style
Style is objective. It is unique. It is immune to external opinions of right/wrong. Your style is a beautiful avenue for expressing yourself and communicating your vibe to the world. Own it. That being said - in this style section, I will share certain styles that are trending [read: styles people collectively are digging at the moment but aren't "right" or "wrong"] or that catch my eye - all to possibly inspire your own self-expression.
I've been working as a stylist for a few years now, styling clients for photo shoots/events/etc. No matter if it's a high school senior or a family of six or someone just wanting to look/feel fly, I try to always honor their personal vibe. Never do I ever shove looks on them, insisting they wear exactly what I say (unless, of course, they specifically request that - then I happily oblige!). I approach it as more of a guided collaboration, because I feel it is important for them to feel their personal style and individuality shine through. I assess their individual style and ask them to share with me any inspiration/vision they may have. I present options and offer suggestions and guidance, communicating the whole way through. My bottom line is for them to feel amazing as they walk out that door. As I consistently remind them, it's their show. I want them to feel like an enhanced version of themselves.
What I love most about fashion/style is it is a beautiful opportunity for self expression. it's a statement you make to the world. As Nina Garcia put it, "Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are, and every time you dress, you are asserting a part of yourself." Or even - a chance for you to channel the person you would like to be! Fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it.
Think about how powerful fashion can be. When you feel put together, don't you feel like you can take on the world?!! And I FIRMLY believe anyone can pull off anything if they commit to owning it. Just simply DARE to WEAR. Confidence is the magical dust that makes you look good no matter what you're rockin'. Don't hold yourself back! This week: What are you going to dare to wear?
coat
Every person should have a good quality coat to complement those dressy and casual looks.
neutrals
Neutrals are a blanket solution. Don't know what to wear? Throw on some neutrals, with a pop of color if you're feeling it (like my red boots). Want to appear polished and put together, but still modern and age appropriate? Neutrals for the win! Deciding on a timeless look for family pictures? Neutrals to the rescue! Need a transitional look to carry you from day to night? Neutrals, baby! Simply exchange accessories/shoes, and you're all set to go from work at the office to a date with the husby.
